Do I need a USDOT Number?
If your company will be operating in any of the following capacities, then YES you are required to have a US DOT Number.

INTERSTATE - Crossing state lines

Operate a vehicle with a GVWR, GCWR, GVW or GCW of 10,001 pounds or more across state lines.

Operate a vehicle that is designed or used to transport more than 8 passengers (including the driver) for compensation.

Operate a vehicle that is designed or used to transport more than 15 passengers (including the driver), and is not used to transport passengers for compensation.

Transport hazardous materials requiring placarding.

INTRASTATE - Staying within the state in which you are domiciled.

Carry one or more types of Hazardous Materials that require a Safety Permit.
