New Mexico WDT is a weight-distance tax that is imposed on commercial vehicles operating interstate and intra with a declared gross weight of 26,000 lbs. or greater. Registration with New Mexico generates a quarterly tax report, and miles traveled through New Mexico are paid quarterly to New Mexico Motor Vehicle Department. Registration is renewed annually. CMV's not registered with New Mexico Motor Vehicle Department must stop at a port of entry and prepay the mileage to be operating in New Mexico during that trip or order a temporary prior to entry.
